Ernie is the principal architect of NRS projects and serves as the hands on coordinator of most initiatives. Ernie recruits and supports the volunteer leaders who help guide coalitions that the firm builds and facilitates their visioning and planning work. He is an accomplished and effective public speaker and often serves as the spokesperson for named projects. Ernie has 30 years of experience at the national, state and local level where he has worked in partnership with government agencies, agricultural and conservation organizations and business leaders helping landowners and managers conserve, protect and ensure the orderly development of the nation’s natural resources. From 1986-2004 he served as Chief Executive Officer of the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD). As CEO of NACD, Ernie represented and facilitated the effective functioning of the association consisting of nearly 3,000 local units of government, 17,000 public officials and 7,000 employees with combined annual budgets exceeding $1billion.
Prior to working at the national level, Ernie held a number of senior leadership positions with the Maryland Department of Agriculture, including Assistant Secretary of Agriculture for Agricultural Development and Resource Conservation. Among other responsibilities, he served as the senior Department official responsible for Chesapeake Bay restoration work. He also provided leadership for soil and water conservation, land preservation, domestic and international marketing and other service oriented programs designed to strengthen the state’s agricultural industry.

As an executive assistant, Shannon provides administrative support to the President as well as event coordination, bookkeeping, and maintenance of websites and databases for NRS and its clients. She also supports the many volunteer leaders that guide and direct our conservation and renewable energy alliances and programs. Shannon has worked as an Executive Assistant for over a decade to a number of CEO’s and Senior Executives. She attended Green Mountain College in Poultney, VT.
Ethan Gilbert, Project Associate

Ethan started with Natural Resource Solutions as an intern in 2014 and joined the staff as a Project Associate in June of 2015. Ethan’s duties include partner outreach and engagement, event planning, preparing project reports and various other support services for the different projects currently underway and in the planning phases. He is originally from Colorado Springs, CO and he received a BA in International Relations from Claremont McKenna College in Southern California.

Brent Bailey is a 1994 graduate of the Mississippi State University Department of Agriculture and Biological Engineering where he obtained a B.S. degree in Biological Engineering with Environmental Emphasis.
After graduation, Brent worked as an Environmental Consultant for two central Mississippi environmental engineering firms. In 1999, Brent went to the Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation to become the organization’s Environmental Programs Coordinator and served in that capacity for over seven years.
In October 2006, Brent began an association with the 25x’25 Initiative and began serving as the Southeast Facilitator for state alliance activities. Brent is working with agriculture and forestry leaders to mobilize support for renewable energy solutions from agriculture and forestry and communicating to the public agriculture and forestry’s potential role in a new national energy strategy.

Bill is the president of Far-Flung Communications, a media and communications consulting firm. He joined the 25x’25 Alliance in a communications support role in 2006. He has been consulting, and writing and editing content for a wide range of non-profit and for-profit initiatives and companies. He has broad reporting, writing, editing and communications experience, including 25 years as a newspaper reporter and columnist in Virginia, Florida, Atlanta, GA, and Washington, D.C., covering government, business, the courts, politics, education, trade, health care, energy, the environment, technology, food safety, agriculture, art and entertainment. Bill served as managing editor for a Chicago-based magazine publishing firm for a number of years before establishing Far-Flung Communications in 2005. He is a 1972 graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University.

Bob is a technical consultant with extensive engineering and management expertise in applying nutrient management technologies to animal feed operations. As general manager of a nonprofit organization, FPPC Inc., he helped fund innovative technology projects, guide collaborative efforts of various stakeholders in critical watersheds and provide oversight and field performance evaluation of farm-scale demonstrations sites across 26 states. Bob has extensive experience in managing operations and relationships to build compliance for safety and environmental requirements in the nuclear, mining, transportation and agricultural industries.
Now retired, Bob continues to work closely with the State of Maryland and with key leaders in Delmarva to evaluate merits of various technologies being considered for more effective deployment of nutrients emanating from horse, dairy and poultry farms.
